Originating in the former German province of Silesia, artists in this little town, now known as Boleslawiec, have been hand painting 'Polish Pottery' for over 200 years. .
Our stoneware is painted in the traditional patterns of former Silesia but the high demand for this pottery has created a flurry of new patterns, some of which have reached the highest levels of accomplishment. These patterns are called 'Unikat' or 'Signature Pieces'. They are painted by Master Artists only and their name is found etched on the bottom of each piece. Unikat pieces are harder to come by because they are more labor intensive and because of their artistic design, they command higher prices.
